Get Healthy for Life: Three Important Benefits of Ongoing Chiropractic Care

Posted on 2012-02-29 11:37:15

Clermont chiropractic care.jpgAt Michaux Family Chiropractic, our Clermont chiropractor is committed to life-long wellness. That’s why our care is different from traditional medical care. We focus on whole body wellness, addressing both the symptoms of pain and its underlying cause. We also believe that prevention is the best cure. That’s why many of our patients continue to receive ongoing adjustments to maintain proper alignment and overall health.

For example, if you suffer from chronic back pain or neck pain following an auto accident injury, our goal is to not only provide immediate, effective relief but also enhance your overall well-being. Ongoing chiropractic care, together with lifestyle changes, has helped many of our patients lead active, pain-free lives – without the need for prescription painkillers.

Is ongoing chiropractic care right for your body and lifestyle? Here are three important ways that adjustments can help:

Regular Visits to Our Clermont Chiropractor Provide Long-Term Pain Management

#1: Reduce the risk of future injury. If you’ve been injured in the past, there’s a greater risk that you will sustain a repeat injury to the same body part. For example, runners who suffer from knee pain often continue to struggle with this pain throughout their lives. Adjustments ensure that the body is properly aligned, which reduces the risk for future injury. And while not all accidents can be avoided, patients who receive regular adjustments heal at a significantly faster rate than those who do not.

#2: Long-term pain management. Patients who suffer from conditions like sciatica and fibromyalgia face a potential lifetime of pain. Studies show that maintaining proper alignment is essential to managing these conditions, and can greatly reduce instances of muscle fatigue, soreness, back pain and neck pain.

#3: Manage stress and reduce the risk of illness. Between work and family demands, life’s daily stresses can have a serious impact on the body. The stress hormone cortisol leads to weight gain, and sends the body into a constant state of flight or fight. Overall health declines, and individuals become more susceptible to fatigue, migraines and headaches. Adjustments also help unlock the stress trapped inside muscle tissue, helping the body relax and maintain proper alignment.

Do you receive regular adjustments? Have they made a difference in your well-being?

Clermont Chiropractic Care for Fibromyalgia

Posted on 2012-02-13 07:43:55

Clermont chiropractic care for fibromyalgia pain.jpgHere at our Clermont chiropractic center, we treat a lot of patients who are suffering from fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a debilitating disease that can be quite painful for those it affects. Although it manifests differently for everyone, the disease has the ability to cause pain throughout the musculoskeletal system, but is usually more painful or tender in specific, localized areas.

Unlike other diseases, fibromyalgia is often difficult to diagnose, as it presents itself as chronic muscle or joint pain. Some patients may believe they have arthritis, while others may attribute the discomfort to the back pain or neck pain that is common with aging.

Unfortunately, there is no way to clinically diagnose fibromyalgia, primarily because there is no specific known cause of the disease. However, a doctor or chiropractor may make the diagnosis if the pain associated with fibromyalgia is present in multiple areas of the body, or if it is accompanied by other symptoms, such as depression, fatigue, stiffness, numbness, abdominal cramping or sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures.

Pain Management from Clermont Chiropractor

Presently, there is no cure for fibromyalgia, but chiropractic care can be useful for pain management and reducing symptoms. It is estimated that as many as one in four cases of fibromyalgia are reactive to a physical trauma, such as an auto accident injury or a work-place injury. In fact, auto accident victims who suffer whiplash are twenty-two times more likely to develop fibromyalgia as a result of their injuries than a person who suffers a non-cervical injury, such as a leg or foot fracture.

At our office, we use spinal manipulation to help promote proper spinal alignment and heal injuries, such as whiplash. The treatments can alleviate pressure on the nervous system, as well as the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Studies have shown that many fibromyalgia patients respond positively to the natural treatment methods we incorporate at our clinic, often experiencing less fatigue, back pain, neck pain and other symptoms after just a few weeks of treatments.
