Headaches and migraines are a common yet debilitating health problem for countless people. Every day we are subjected to a variety of stresses and triggers, both emotional and physical, which can result in pounding aches or sharp pains in the head. Fortunately, here at Michaux Family Chiropractic we know how to treat these symptoms, bringing much-needed relief to many of our patients in 34711 area.
Did you know that the pain in your head may actually be starting from your neck? Pinched nerves or strained muscles in the cervical area can cause constant or recurring headaches, as many whiplash sufferers can testify, so an old injury or repetitive motion disorder may be contributing to your pain. Tension headaches may be aggravated by muscle tension in the neck, but the underlying cause may be spinal misalignments that throw your head off balance and irritate sensitive nerves. Once we relieve the misalignment, the nerve issues cease and the muscles can relax, bringing prompt relief without the need for drugs.
Migraines are particularly troublesome because in addition to acute pain, they can also cause nausea, vomiting, extreme light or sound sensitivity, and visual auras. This form of headache occurs when cranial blood vessels suddenly dilate and constrict, causing rapid blood pressure changes.
