At Michaux Family Chiropractic, we take great pride in providing the best in chiropractic care to Clermont, Davenport, Oakland, and the surrounding areas. One of the more common injuries that brings patients into our office is that of whiplash, which is extremely common following an auto accident.
Specifically, whiplash refers to an injury that occurs when the spine is thrown abruptly and violently forward. The end result is that the ligaments, muscles, and tendons around the affected area of the spine become damaged and torn. In the case of a car accident, whiplash may occur when the lower (lumbar) section of the spine remains still but the thoracic and cervical (upper) sections of the spine are thrown forward into a seatbelt upon impact.
Often times, the symptoms of whiplash take a day or two to show up, leaving many to initially believe they weren't injured in the accident. The most common whiplash symptoms include neck and back pain or stiffness. Some also experience numbness or tingling in the extremities or headaches/migraines.
If you're suffering from whiplash, the good news is that there are chiro treatment options available to you. In our office, we'll begin with an evaluation of your symptoms to officially diagnose your condition before coming up with a customized treatment plan to suit your needs. Most often, we recommend chiropractic adjustments to help restore the spine's alignment and relieve pressure on nerves, thus relieving whiplash pain. This hands-on procedure is performed by our skilled and experienced chiropractor, and multiple treatments may be recommended to yield the best results.
In addition to adjustments, we may also recommend a series of corrective care exercises and other therapies, which can help to restore the spine's range of movement and help promote healing. These exercises can also strengthen injured areas of the spine and improve overall flexibility.
With chiropractic treatment, you can always rest assured that you'll be receiving non-invasive, drug-free care. Furthermore, unlike pain medications and other treatment methods, chiropractic care focuses on treating the source of your pain so that it's gone for good. Unfortunately, the same cannot always be said for other treatment methods
