Chiropractic Care for Pinched Nerve Conditions

Clermont chiropractor treats pinched nerve pain.jpgOnce you have experienced the radiating pain, tingling, and numbness of a pinched nerve, you know how important it is to find an effective form of pain management to recover fully. Dr. Kurt Michaux, our chiropractors at Michaux Family Chiropractic in Clermont, provide treatment for pinched nerves, neck pain, back pain, and many other painful symptoms and conditions.

Causes of Pinched Nerves

A pinched nerve injury may result from one of these three conditions.

#1: Actually not pinched nerves, but rather irritated or inflamed nerves. This triggering condition, also known as "subluxation," is typically the result of a misaligned spine or muscles and joints that do not move properly or fluidly. This encroaches on nerves, producing irritated or pinched sensations.

#2: Genuinely pinched nerves, afflictions known as "tunnel syndromes," such as sciatica and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. These occur when muscles and connective tissue become injured, inflamed, or spasm, and actually apply pressure to, or compress, nearby nerves.

#3: Often results from knotted, tight muscles and related back pain or neck pain, along with burning, tingling sensations often associated with pinched nerves. This is actually known as "referred" pain, rather than direct pain.

How Chiropractic Care Helps

Our chiropractors can bring relief from painful pinched nerves using a combination of procedures, based on your specific condition.

Subluxations usually require a spinal adjustment or manipulation to realign vertebrae for most effective recovery.

Pinched nerves occurring in tunnel syndromes respond best to a combination of adjustments, physical therapy, stretches, and exercises.

Knotted muscles typically recover best following a blend of adjustments, stretches, and trigger point therapy, or deep tissue massage.
