Putting a Stop to Sciatica Pain

Clermont chiropractor treats sciatica.jpgThe nervous system is a complex grouping of nerve pathways that connect to each other throughout the body. The longest of those nerves, known as the sciatic nerve, runs down the back and into the hips, buttock and upper thighs. Occasionally, the sciatic nerve can become irritated, causing pain, tingling, numbness or even a burning sensation. Together, these symptoms are collectively known as sciatica.

Usually, sciatic nerve problems are caused by a bulging disc that is placing too much pressure on the nerve and its pathways. A bulging disc occurs when the vertebrae becomes compressed, causing the disc that separates them to become compressed as well. The result is usually chronic back pain, as well as occasional tingling or numbness.

Chiropractic Adjustments for Pain Management and Treatment of Sciatica

If you visit a chiropractor for complications related to the sciatic nerve, you can expect to be scheduled for frequent adjustments to the lower back. By applying gentle, but firm pressure to areas of the spine that are either compressed or unnaturally aligned, less and less pressure is placed on the sciatic nerve, resulting in fewer symptoms and less back pain over time.

Once chiropractic treatments have alleviated sciatica symptoms and returned the spine to health, you may benefit from additional maintenance adjustments to keep the spine properly aligned and to prevent the onset of symptoms again in the future. At our office, the goal is to help you with pain management from sciatic nerve irritation and its symptoms without resorting to an unnecessary surgical intervention. Our hope is that you will leave every visit at our office feeling stronger and more empowered about your musculoskeletal health care.

Have you ever visited a Clermont chiropractor for pain management or relief from sciatic nerve irritation?
